Hello and thanks for this great application :)

With the new email interface, it could be usefull to add a task directly by mail. For exemple "Remember The Milk" allow that (http://www.rememberthemilk.com/help/answers/sending/emailinbox.rtm).

An email could be formated like that :

    Subject: Weekly work meeting
    To: [Your clockingIT email address]

    Priority: 1
    Due: Monday at 9am
    Repeat: Every Week
    Estimate: 2 hours
    Tags: report coffee
    ---
This is a heading for the first note.

This is the first note's content.
    ---
This is a heading for the second note.

This is the second note's content.

    Regards

I have thought a bit about that, and I'd like to get some sort of project identifier going first, as you'd need a destination for your task as well (remembering #1, #2 vs. [cit] [mysite] or something like that).

one way to speed up the "submit task by email" would be to use the address recipient to file the task into the right project

i'll sneak in another idea for usage of the 'plus sign operator' in the std email protocol -- for example, to signify priority.

    To: hobby_project+Critical@myclockingitdomain.com
    Subject: buy model airplane parts!

    (a very important task)

    or the less user-friendly format:

    To: project-1+Low@myclockingitdomain.com
    Subject: stock up on twinkies

(a low priority task, where project with id 1 is the same hobby_project mentioned above)

while I'm brainstorming here, the subject line could be searched for Types, Severities, and Milestone matches (surrounded by [])

Subject: [Defect] [Critical] the fridge is broken

    turns into a critical defect

    or

Subject: [1.0] [New Feature] [Minor] submit task by email

turns into a feature, with minor severity set for milestone 1.0

    Subject: remember the milk

specifying nothing "extra" on the subject line would default to... well... the default values
    (Type:Task, Severity:Normal, Milestone:[none])

I wish I had more hours in a day, so I could get more done. :-) I haven't forgotten about this yet, and something like that would probably work. Along with a couple of help and list comands, a lot can be done. Maybe giving your projects vcards would help with the email addresses and spelling of project names.

It's still on my list of things to do, but not right at the top. I'm just about giving up on IE6 at the moment, I'm wasting WAY too much time trying to keep it usable. *grumble*

Bump. I'd like to see a feature like this too. For my needs it could be as simple as this ... User sends and email to <PROJECT_NAME>@mydomain.com and a task is created in that project.

There is a some documentation for this idea here: http://wiki.clockingit.com/dev:email and in particular a link to the existing method of adding new tasks for Bugzilla: http://www.bugzilla.org/docs/3.0/html/api/email_in.html

Ok, thanks, but I've already seen that links.

What I'd to know if there's someone working on it.

    Greetings!

Not at the moment, as far as I know. I'd welcome a patch for this with open arms though. ;-)
