    Hi.
I have noticed that all the projects i start has a few basic tasks that are the same for all of them. So it would be great if there was possible to make a project and save it as default project template, making easy to create new similar projects in the future.
Also i was thinking that a easy way to simulate that is allow to copy tasks from one project into another. This way anyone could make a project called Default with all the basic tasks created inside it, to copy them to any new projects.

    What do you think?

    Thanks

How often do you really need this?

Not sure... but always when i start a new project.
I am working in web pages, and each new web page has some common task, as instalation, publish and so on.
So when i think in a new web page, i use 10 tasks of the last project... :D
So, it depends of the day, week, or month.
It is just a suggestion... :)

I thought I would chime in and say that templates are a feature I would LOVE to see added.
It has been something missing from almost every open source PM I have tried.

I am a creative designer and I have my development timeline for all projects follow set phases (basically milestones). Then each phase has the same set of tasks for each project for the most part. Having to re-enter these identical milestones and tasks every time I set up a new client/project really eats up my time. Therefore, templates would rock.

So far ClockingIT is shaping up to meet my needs! Keep up the great work guys.

Now, i am using clockingit at 100% and i have created 10 projects last week, and yes. I do need this feature. I have lost hours and days just to create the same task in those 10 projects. Template or copy/paste will be great.

    :)

Glad eventidestudios like the suggest. :D

    Please please please!!!

I sent eventidestudios here while he was searching for software and his requirements are very similar to mine.

I want to use clockingit to track my wedding photography - each wedding/project is virtually identical: shoot, edit, select images, create album, approve album, etc.

Maybe templates could be similar, in design, as "create a view". One could create templates of anything they wish (ie milestones, tasks, projects, dates(monthly, weekly, daily), client CSS). At the same time that might be too much and cause problems.

It's already on the roadmap, as far as I can see. :-)

    Hi,

First post so let me begin saying you're giving us a WONDERFUL project, really ! Feature full, AFAIC and so user friendly.

But if I don't really need the template feature... my coworkers REALLY do ! Our projects are always structured in the same way, with the same milestones, the same tasks durations (at least when we create them ;-) ), the same....

So for us, the lack of this is a show stopper because we'd spend more time recreating projects structures than keeping on with those old crappy spreadsheets :-( To be even more precise, we'd need full projects templates from wich we'd set project wide informations and start date and... WOOOSH !!! Get back to work ;-)

Thanks again for your awesome work

If you have a daily task, you could set it to repeat every one days, and it'll pop up the next day each time you complete it.
